Wiire Holiday House and Smoke Sauna was born out of love for Estonian nature, traditions and authentic experience.

The holiday home is a century-old farmhouse that has retained its historic feel through the ages, but has received some refreshing updates to offer the basic comforts of a true home. At the heart of the house is a spacious lounge with a kitchenette, equipped with all the comforts of everyday life. The house has 2 bedrooms, a Finnish sauna with a shower room, a dishwasher, a washing machine, fireplaces and an outdoor area. There are beds for 10 people in summer and 9 people in winter, and there is also an outside camping area for overnight accommodation in the garden house. There are extra beds and a baby cot.

Farm territory

On the territory of the holiday house, which is 6000 m², there is a 100-year-old smoke sauna, a large semi-open barbecue house with a Kamado barbecue setup, a large pond, a fireplace and a hot tub. The 20 m² garden house also offers overnight accommodation. There is also a volleyball net in the garden and other options for various outdoor games. Fruit trees and shrubs grow in the garden, and we take seasonal care to make sure there’s always fresh produce available for guests. Guests can also use our 5 bicycles to explore the surroundings or hire a paddle boat and explore the coast. For larger celebrations we have a party tent (10×5 m) with chairs and tables. In addition, a variety of leisure activities offered by our partners can be organised on the territory.

Built in 1921 the smoke sauna can accommodate up to -12 people at a time. Wiire smoke sauna offers a special and dignified experience through different packages for all sauna lovers. If you’ve ever been to a smoke sauna, you’re in the lucky minority. Once you’ve experienced it, you’ll understand why it’s compared to the addictive feeling of well-being you want to experience again and again.

The smoke sauna is the oldest type of sauna in Estonia, with roots that go back to the distant past. This sacred place, where both body and soul are cleansed, carries ancient customs and rituals that have been handed down from generation to generation. It is a living tradition that speaks of the wisdom of our ancestors and their deep connection with nature. It is on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

The smoke sauna – more than a wash, it’s a ritual

For Estonians, going to the smoke sauna has always been more than just a way to cleanse the body – it is a spiritual and physical ritual with roots deep in our traditional culture.

Conventional sauna bathing is a multi-step and slow journey to self-realisation:

5 hours of stove heating,
making whisks and ventilating sauna rooms,
welcoming rituals
various other rituals
cooling in the pond,
body care and appreciation.

Historically, the smoke sauna has been a place of healing and spiritual cleansing – welcoming newcomers to the world and washing those leaving for their final journey. Sometimes people would sit in the sauna in silence to be with their thoughts. And let’s face it – the smoke sauna was also a place where new life was created.

What should visitors know?

Smoke sauna requires time and patience

Heating and preparing a smoke sauna is a long and leisurely process that can take several hours. Unlike conventional stoves, you should no longer add fire to a smoke sauna stove once you have started. The flame can be taken for about 5 hours – as long as the stones retain heat and are stimulated with moderately hot water.

A truly enjoyable sauna experience starts with conscious preparation. We recommend you bring your own:

good mood
bathrobe
two towels (one to sit on, one to dry off)
flippers
woollen socks to wear after the sauna
snacks and drinks

In the sauna, it is healthier to drink mineral water – not alcohol, as the latter stresses the body and aggravates dehydration.

A smoke sauna is a ritual, not a rush. Take your time, enjoy the process and let your body and mind recover. To make the experience perfect, it’s advisable to plan well in advance.

Who is Elis Seppius the sauna woman?

Guided by Elise, the sauna visits create an opportunity to experience traditional sauna visits in a way that speaks to the modern person. For example, she offers a bridal sauna ritual aimed at celebrating the beauty and love of women. In addition, a whole family, a group of friends or a work group can be brought to the sauna to give new beginnings a boost or to celebrate the end of important life stages.

The sauna lessons, from Eda Veeroja, the owner of the Mooska smoke sauna, are sweet and personal.

Elis Seppius is a versatile specialist who works as a psychological counsellor, therapist and sauna ritual facilitator. Her aim is to support people on their spiritual journey, helping them to rediscover themselves and find balance and clarity in different aspects of life.

Under Elise’s guidance, people from all walks of life and traditions have come to the sauna – entrepreneurs and journalists, world travellers and people on a personal healing journey.

Elis believes in the importance of rituals in everyday life, stressing that they help create awareness and presence. According to her, simple activities such as cooking a meal or tidying up the house can then become rituals that bring more meaning and harmony to life.

As a psychologist, Elis provides professional counselling and therapy covering personal relationships, family, work and personal development. Her approaches include biodynamic craniosacral therapy, systemic family constellations and elements of art therapy. In addition, she works with groups to help create a coherent set of values and supportive patterns of functioning.
